A wild first inning carried the Panthers to their first win of the season against visiting Oconto on Saturday.
Oconto Falls (1-1, 0-1 Bay Conference) senior Riley Gruetzmacher picked up the win, pitching four of seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, and striking out five.
Pitcher Sawyer Koch had a nervous first inning for Oconto (0-2, 0-0 Packerland), hitting one batter, walking two and suffering two passed balls, which helped the Panthers to a 3-0 lead.
Junior Mike Manns (0-2) hit into a fielder’s choice in the second inning to score junior second baseman Tyler Hagemeier (1-2), who also scored on a fielding error in the fourth inning.

Gillett/Suring scored 10 runs in the first two innings in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday. The game was called due to the 10-run rule.
The Hornets’ Willow Pecha struck out eight and allowed one earned run through five innings to pick up her first win of the season. She also was 1 for 2 at the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base. Jessica Anderson was 3 for 4 with two runs scored for Gillett/Suring (5-0, 1-0 Marinette & Oconto Conference).
Molli Morrison took the loss for Elcho (0-2, 0-0 Northern Lakes), allowing 10 runs (four earned) and eight walks in two innings.

Jessica Anderson notched her fourth consecutive victory in the Hornets’ home win in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
Anderson pitched 3 2/3 innings, walking one and allowing four earned runs. She struck out six batters.
Gillett/Suring (4-0, 1-0 Marinette & Oconto Conference) was led offensively by Faith Sorlie (2-3), who scored five runs and stole three bases. Junior Mackenzie Simpson (2-3) drove in three runs.
Brianne Siemers was 4 for 5, scored four runs and had two RBIs for Elcho (0-1, 0-0 Northern Lakes Conference). Brenna DeNamur took the loss, pitching all six innings, allowing nine earned runs and walking 12.

A six-run fifth inning propelled Gillett/Suring to a Marinette & Oconto Conference win Friday against visiting Coleman.
Gillett/Suring (3-0, 1-0 Marinette & Oconto) produced seven straight hits in the bottom of the fifth.
Freshman Taylor Yonker and junior Mackenzie Simpson both went 2 for 3 with two runs scored for Gillett. Junior Myranda Pratsch (1-3) had three RBIs.

Gillett/Suring pounced early against nonconference opponent Laona/Wabeno on April 7 with three runs in the first two innings.
Junior Jessica Anderson struck out nine batters and walked one in seven innings. Anderson had 18 strikeouts in the first two games of the season.
Myranda Pratsch batted 2 for 3 with a triple, run scored and two RBIs for Gillett/Suring (2-0, 0-0 Marinette & Oconto Conference). Freshman Willow Pecha was 2 for 3 with a RBI and run scored

The Titans produced four three-run innings en route to a season-opening nonconference win April 7 against visiting Stephenson, Michigan.
STAA/Lena’s Marley Carviou (2-2) drove in four runs. Both Hailey Brock (0-2) and Makayla Bushmaker (1-3) each had three RBSs.
Kayla Boye struck out 10 batters in five innings, and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits, to notch the victory for STAA/Lena (1-0, 0-0 Marinette & Oconto Conference).
Amelia Starzynski led Stephenson (0-1) with a 2-for-2 game, knocking in three runs and scoring twice. Samantha Chaney received the loss.
