Gillett Secondary School’s track teams earned three first-place finishes Thursday at the 37th annual Peshtigo Invitational.
Senior Akeem Bates won the long jump and triple jump, and classmate Max Zeitler won the 3,200-meter run. None of the Gillett girls finished better than third.
Both the Gillett boys and girls squads finished eighth among 12 schools. Peshtigo won the boys meet, and Kewaunee captured the girls’ crown.
Bates, a state qualifier in the long jump last year, won on Thursday with a 20-foot jump and and the triple jump with a leap of 41-08.00.
Max Zeitler won the 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 29.29 seconds.
Senior Taylor Kohls (shot put, 35-01.00) and sophomore Lauren Herzog (3,200, 12:41.88) produced the finishes of the Gillett girls, with third-place honors in their events.
