Suring High School’s girls track team captured six victories — three by junior Az VanBellinger — en route to a first-place finish Friday at the Marinette & Oconto Conference meet at Peshtigo High School.
Suring racked up 213.5 points, with Peshtigo (193) second and Florence/Niagara (62) third.
Peshtigo (164) won the boys meet, with Suring (131.5) second and Crivitz (110.50) third.
Suring’s girls were led by VanBellinger’s first-place finishes in the 400-meter dash (1 minute, 2.61 seconds), 200 (27.73) and long jump (15 feet, 2 inches). VanBellinger placed second in the 100 (13.93),
Suring sophomore Katie Stegeman was first in the high jump (4-10) and second in the 1,600 (5:47.51).
Courtney Heimerl (pole vault, 8-3) and Brooke Gauthier (discus, 102-4) provided the Eagles’ other first-place finishes.
The Suring boys did not capture a first, but recorded six second-place finishes.
Earning second-place finishes were the 3,200-meter relay team of Mitch Firgens, Scout Gerndt, Connor Giese and Bob Mahoney (9:18.10); Grant Fischer, 1,600 (4:52.30); Creo VanBellinger, 400 (53.04); Will Vollmar, 200 (23.89); John Christensen, high jump (5-10); and Mark Runge, pole vault (11-6).
Will Vollmar was also third in the 100 dash (11.78) and long jump (19-4).
