Historical society to sponsor cemetery walk

The Oconto County Historical Society will present its sixth annual cemetery walk, “If Tombstones Could Talk,” on Sept. 23 and 24. The walks will begin at 6 p.m. at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery, 3024 N. River Road, Oconto. Tour-goers will be led in groups through the cemetery by lantern-carrying guides. Six historic personages will be portrayed, and their life stories will come alive. Tickets for the cemetery walk will be on sale at the G.E. Hall Annex from Aug. 1-30 and at Matravers Hardware from Sept. 1-20. The cost is $6 per person. There will be a limited number of tickets for each of the two nights of the cemetery walk. No tickets will be sold at the cemetery on the nights of the walk. Refreshments will be served in the G.E. Hall Annex following the walks. Tour-goers are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight. The tour requires an amount of walking, sometimes on uneven ground. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be held in the Oconto City Hall Community Room. For information, call Jane or Bob Klozotsky at 920-284-8422.
