Hiring a principal for the Suring School District will be discussed by the Board of Education when it meets in executive session on Wednesday, Aug. 12, in Conference Room 300 at Suring School, 411 Algoma St. The board is scheduled to interview candidates at 4:30 p.m. on the same day and discuss a principal contract at the end of its monthly meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
Principal Steve Huisman resigned July 23 and has accepted a fourth-grade teaching position at Fairview Elementary in the Pulaski Community School District.
The board will also hear reports regarding a trip to Germany, summer school numbers, student and staff attendance for the 2014-15 school year, and the upcoming teacher orientation and in-service schedule. Bids will be considered for milk and snow plowing. The board will review support staff and teacher handbooks for the 2015-16 school year, a school emergency response plan and preliminary 2015 budget.
Also on the agenda is discussion regarding the golf team, baseball/softball co-op and future school calendar, plus committee and department reports.
