Bonduel 56, Auburndale 44
For the first time in school history, the Bonduel Bears boys basketball team will participate in the WIAA state tournament.
Bonduel defeated Auburndale 56-44 to win their Division 4 sectional and advance to the state tournament.
The teams each scored 27 points in the second half, but the Bears’ 12-point lead from the first half was plenty to earn the win.
Ryan Westrich led Bonduel with 19 points, and Cade Johnson added 12.
Bonduel is 27-1 this season. They are the No. 1 seed going into the tournament, which will be played at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Bonduel is scheduled to play No. 4 The Prairie School (14-15) at 6:35 p.m. March 20.
No. 2 Mineral Point (27-1) and No. 3 Aquinas (24-3) are scheduled to play after.
The championship game will be played 15 minutes after the Division 5 final game, which is set to begin at 11:05 a.m. March 22.
