Hawks, Red Robins notch victories

Feb. 13 Shawano/Bonduel 6, Notre Dame JV 0 Shawano/Bonduel closed out its regular season with a 6-0 win over Notre Dame JV. Gavin Hundt, who was recently honored for scoring 100 points for the Hawks this season, scored four goals – all in the second period. Scoring began at 9:08 in the first period when Teagan Harkey scored with a Cameron Schroeder assist. Hundt scored at 4:58, 5:33, 12:18 and 15:34 in the second period as Shawano/Bonduel moved out to a 5-0 lead. Schroeder and Harkey assisted on Hundt’s fourth goal. Blake Knope scored the final goal at 15:02 in the third period. Shawano/Bonduel had 27 shots on goal. Notre Dame had 15 with Kaiden Thornborrow getting all 15 saves. Notre Dame was penalized three times for six minutes; Shawano/Bonduel was called for four infractions for eight minutes. In the WIAA regional finals, No. 6 seed Shawano/Bonduel will travel to No. 3 Lakeland this week for a chance to advance to the sectional round. Antigo 10, Iron River (Michigan) 1 A 4-1 lead erupted into a 10-1 final score after Antigo knocked in six goals in the third period against Iron River, Michigan. Owen Dickman started off the scoring at 3:46 in the first period with the help of Eli Kassler. Kassler then scored his own goal at 12:09 with help from Carson Rhode and Ethan Novy. In the second period, Trenton Walbeck scored at 1:04, followed by Kassler’s second goal at 2:50 with Novy and Dickman assisting. Iron River’s only goal came at 7:10. The third period witnessed a flurry from the Red Robins. Dickman scored at 6:09 with Kassler and Alex Brittenham assisting. Liam Burt scored at 7:24 with Novy getting another assist. Dickman scored at 10:24, and Michael Hagerty scored at 12:19 with a Kassler assist. Jamie Odden knocked the puck in at 15:25 with Dickman assisting, and finally, Burt notched his second goal at 16:16 with Walbeck assisting. Antigo pounded away at the net with 44 shots on goal. Iron River only managed 16 shots, and Richie Veriha had 15 saves. Iron River had one penalty for two minutes; Antigo had two penalties for four minutes.
