Stanley E. Olson

Stanley E. Olson, 93, of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. Stan was born in the Town of Maple Valley on July 18, 1931, to the late Stanley and Matilda (Miller) Olson. He served his country in the Korean War as a paratrooper and medic in the 187th airborne regiment combat team. After his honorable discharge in 1954, Stan joined the Milwaukee Fire Department in 1954. After 32 years of service there, he retired in 1986. Thereafter, Stan served as a mail courier for the Suring Post Office for many years. In addition to his work, Stan served as town supervisor in Maple Valley for 12 years. He also served on the Trinity Church Board and was the treasurer and sexton for Maple Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Stan married Imaine Suzy Lanser on Sept. 15, 1956, in Milwaukee. They had two sons, Michael (Ellen) of West Bend and Jon Jay (Wendy) of Aloha, Oregon. Stan is survived by his two granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Olson Cogan of Portland, Oregon, and Summer Anne Olson of Redmond, Oregon. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Jon Jay. Stan was the last surviving sibling of eight children. His four sisters were Leona, Esther, Mildred and Ilene. His brother were Clifford, Richard and Gilbert. Per Stan’s wishes, no services will be held.
