Shawano, Antigo hockey teams win

Jan. 16 Shawano/Bonduel 7, Beaver Dam 5 After a somewhat quiet first period, Shawano/Bonduel found its footing and scored several times in the second and third periods to beat Beaver Dam 7-5. Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Kielman Armbruster put Shawano/Bonduel on the board with a goal at 5:20 in the second period; Cameron Schroeder assisted. Just 37 seconds later, Bryce Lammers tied the game at 2-2 with a goal and an assist from Max Huntington. Blake Swedberg put Shawano/Bonduel up 3-2 with a score at 14:03, and Gavin Hundt scored at 15:06 with help from Waylon Snider to make it 4-2. The Golden Beavers scored at the end of the second period. Beaver Dam tied the game at 4-4 at 5:13 in the third period. Blake Knope put Shawano/Bonduel bacon top 5-4 at 7:42, only to see Beaver Dam tie the score at 5-5 at 13:58. Wyatt Schroeder scored at 14:20 to give Shawano/Bonduel the lead. At 16:23, Hundt ended the scoring with his second goal. Beaver Dam edged Shawano/Bonduel 8-5 on shots on goal in the first period, but Shawano/Bonduel reversed the trend 11-8 in the second period and 13-12 in the third. Kaiden Thornborrow notched 23 saves for the visitors. The Golden Beavers were penalized twice for four minutes, and Shawano/Bonduel was called for three infractions for six minutes. Antigo 5, Northland Pines 3 Owen Dickman recorded a hat trick with one goal in each period as Antigo beat Northland Pines 5-3. The Red Robins scored first on a goal by Eli Kassler just 22 seances into the game’ Dickman assisted. The Eagles tied the game at 1-1 at 9:18, only to see Dickman get his first goal and the Antigo lead at 12:35. Kassler assisted on the go-ahead goal. Dickman scored his second goal at 3:12 in the second period to put Antigo up 3-1. Northland Pines scored at 11:14. Dickman’s third goal came at 13:28 in the third period to put the Red Robins on top 4-2; Kassler assisted. Northland Pines scored at 14:20. Kassler notched his second goal at 15:04 to end the scoring. The Eagles attempted nearly three times as many shots as the Red Robins, but their shots came up empty. Northland Pines had 44 shots on goal, compared to 17 for Antigo. Richie Veriha recorded 41 saves for Antigo. Penalties were at a minimum, with the Eagles penalized once and the Red Robins called for two of them.
