Darryl E. Greetan

Darryl Edward Greetan, 84, Oconto Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. He was born June 15, 1940, in Wabeno to John Sr. and Christine (Urbanek) Greetan. His childhood was spend in Wabeno and Lena, but he eventually moved to Oconto Falls and graduated from Oconto Falls High School, class of 1958. Darryl enlisted in the U.S. Army as a young man, serving in both Japan and Vietnam. He married Rosella Laverne Diedrich on Dec. 28, 1963, in Gillett. While serving in the military, they lived in Texas, and ultimately returned to Oconto Falls to raise their two children, Crystal and Darryl. He was proud to be a member of the local chapter of American Legion Post 302. Darryl was also a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish. He was a correctional officer at Green Bay Reformatory until his retirement, and he worked maintenance for Parkview Apartments in Oconto Falls. Darryl will be remembered by those who knew him as a hard worker and an all-around good guy. Darryl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosella; daughter, Crystal (Mark) Podoski of Oconto Falls; son, Darryl (Tonia) Greetan of Oconto Falls; four grandchildren, William Podoski, Lindsey, Natalie and Jackson Greetan; four brothers, Richard (Shirley) Greetan of Oconto, John (Janet Benak) Greetan Jr. of Coleman, Lewellyn “Skeeter” Greetan of Oconto Falls and Gaylin Greetan of Oconto Falls; three sisters, Pat Kowalczyk of Green Bay, Shirley Lawler of Lena and Darlene “Polly” Greetan of Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Shirley Greetan, Margo Greetan and Jackie Greetan. He was preceded by his parents, John Sr. and Christine; and seven brothers, Roger, LeRoy, Gordon, Dale, James “Sam,” Dean and Maynard Greetan. A private committal service will be held for Darryl’s family at St. Anthony Cemetery in Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is serving the Greetan family.
