Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys wrestlers win 3 duals in Stratford

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s boys wrestling team won all three dual meets at the Stratford Dual Tournament on Dec. 7. The Chargers defeated Crandon 58-24, Wausau West 70-4 and Southern Door 69-12. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 58, Crandon 24 Devin Wudtke opened the match at 144 pounds with a pin in 1:05. Ben Miller (150) won 11-2 on a major decision. Luca Pelusi won by fall in 1:34 at 165 pounds, followed by Crandon’s first win, a pin in 1:30 over Kaden Yeager. Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Grayson Niswander lost by a pin in 30 seconds, followed by teammate Carter Waldvogel winning by a fall in 2:59. Bryson Schmid also won by pin in 1:58 at 215 pounds, before George Seegmiller was pinned at 285 pounds. Landon Meronk, Brenna Marsh and Dalton Fletcher all won by forfeit. Bo Davis won by a fall in 5:39, and Easton Davis wrapped up the overall victory with a pin in 4:48. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 70, Wausau West 4 Frank Wierzba opened at 150 pounds with a win by forfeit. That was followed by wins by Miller, Pelusi and Niswander. Carter Waldvogel suffered the only loss for the Chargers, losing on a major decision 12-0 at 190 pounds. Schmid and Seegmiller won their matches, with Meronk, Marsh and Fletcher winning by forfeit. Bo Davis and Easton Davis won their matches with pins in just over a minute, and Wudtke won by forfeit. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 69, Southern Door 12 After Miller scored first with a win by forfeit, Pelusi was pinned in 4:44 at 165 pounds. The Chargers found the win column again with a pin by Niswander, a Waldvogel win by forfeit, a pin by Schmid, a pin by Seegmiller and a pin by Meronk. Southern Door’s Cash Sanchez won at 113 pounds on a forfeit. Wittenberg-Birnamwood closed out the match with six wins: Marsh by forfeit, Fletcher by a major decision, Bo Davis by pin, Easton Davis by forfeit, Wudtke by a technical fall and Wierzba by forfeit.
