Wisconsin egg production during October was 209 million eggs, down slightly from the previous October, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The average number of all layers on hand during October was 7.8 million, down 2% from last year. Eggs per 100 layers for October was 2,680, up 1% from a year ago.
United States egg production totaled 9.19 billion during October, down 4% from last year. Production included 7.89 billion table eggs and 1.30 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.21 billion were broiler-type and 92.4 million were egg-type.
The average number of layers during October totaled 377 million, down 3% from last year. October egg production per 100 layers was 2,438 eggs, down 1% from October 2023.
Total layers in the United States on Nov. 1 totaled 377 million, down 3% from last year. The 377 million layers consisted of 312 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 61.2 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs and 3.62 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on Nov. 1 averaged 78.8 eggs per 100 layers, down 1% from November 1, 2023.
Egg-type chicks hatched during October totaled 54.9 million, up 7% from October 2023. Eggs in incubators totaled 49.3 million on Nov. 1, up 5% from a year ago.
Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 245,000 during October, down 2% from October 2023.
Broiler-type chicks hatched during October totaled 845 million, up 3% from October 2023. Eggs in incubators totaled 723 million on Nov. 1, up 6% from a year ago.
