Shawano County dispatcher Kim Krause answered an unusual 911 call Nov. 15.
A 10-year-old boy was very serious that he needed help with his math homework. Krause, who’s been out of school for 40 years, said she was not the one to help, but she would find someone who could.
Deputy Chase Mason responded to the scene after the boy told Krause that his family “wasn’t very good at math either,” and he needed help.
“Personally, I am also not overly proficient when it comes to math, but nonetheless, I responded to assist,” Mason wrote in his report.
Mason and the boy worked together to solve the decimal-related math problems.
Mason then gave the caller a business card and was told the officers are there to help, except next time he should use the non-emergency line if it’s not a life-threatening situation.
