State farmers getting paid less for corn, soybeans

The average price received by farmers for corn during August in Wisconsin was $3.73 per bushel according to the latest USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service Agricultural Prices report. This was 35 cents below the July price and $1.90 below August 2023. The August average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $10.50 per bushel, was $1.40 below the July price and $3.80 below the August 2023 price. The August average oat price per bushel, at $3.17, was 21 cents below July and 55 cents below August 2023. All hay prices in Wisconsin averaged $128 per ton in August. This was $22 below the July price but $28 above the August 2023 price. The August 2024 alfalfa hay price, at $139, was $24 below the previous month and $5 below August 2023. The average price received for other hay during August was $97 per ton. This was $20 below the July price and $3 below August last year. The average price for milk was $23 per hundredweight, $1.10 above the July price and $3.80 above August 2023.
