Shawano golfers tighten race for conference lead

Sept. 12 Bay Conference Mini-Meet No. 7 Shawano golfers edged closer to overtaking Seymour for the conference lead, as the Hawks won at Mid-Vallee Golf Course in West De Pere. “We needed to win today to have a chance of winning the Bay Conference, because Seymour was leading the conference by six points over Shawano,” coach Dean Kugler said. “We dropped it to four points after today with only one more conference stop at Xavier and the final conference invite to make up the necessary points.” Shawano placed first with a 178, followed by Seymour at 190. Bonduel placed sixth with a 230. Shawano’s Sophia Eggert won the meet with a 39; personal bests came from Delanie Kunze and Grace Pensis at 45 each. Madelyn Moesch had a 49. Lily Glysch scored 55. Raina Dworniczak led the Bears with a 47. She was joined by Paige Wolf at 60, Quinn Hartlaben at 61 and Leah Court at 62. McKenna Onesti had a 91.
