Back to Church Sunday, part of a national movement of churches across America, will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at Hillside Assembly of God, 5890 State Highway 22, Gillett.
Since it started as a call to action and invitation for the church in 2009, the National Back to Church Sunday movement marks its 15th year and continues to gain momentum. More than 5 million have participated through 30,000 churches. It is a day focused on uniting the church to equip and empower members to be inviters.
For Back to Church Sunday, Hillside will have a special service that features the start of a new series on being rooted in faith, in prayer and in community. Children will have their own interactive Bible lesson on the lower level.
“When life gets busy, we can easily slip out of healthy habits we know we need,” Pastor Jonathan Carlson said. “Being part of a church community is one of them. Our goal with this Sunday is to welcome everyone to experience the love and power of God.”
This year’s Back to Church Sunday campaign is designed around a celebration theme encouraging current church attenders to invite friends and neighbors to come experience the support, hope and friendship available at a local church. As well as discovering the deeper, spiritual benefits that faith can provide.
