Dairy Fest returns to Lena this weekend

The 38th annual Lena Dairy Fest, sponsored by the Lena Lions, is again scheduled this year for Friday night and Saturday after Labor Day, Sept. 6-7, at the grounds of St. Anne’s Parish, 221 E. Main St., Lena. The festival kicks off with a truck pull starting at 6 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. The truck pull, hosted by NEW Motorsports, was added in 2023 and proved a popular attraction. While admission to the Dairy Fest grounds is free, a $5 fee will be charged to watch the truck pulls; children age 12 and under are free. Saturday activities begin with the Stampede 5K Run/Walk, with registration starting at 6 a.m. at Lena High School, 204 E. Main St., Lena. The walk/run itself begins at 8 a.m. The Lena Dairy Fest Parade down Main Street starts at 10:30 a.m., with Mike and Pam Alsteen serving as grand marshals. Other events on Sept. 7 include a farm tractor pull at noon with free admission, and kids bouncers and a petting zoo all afternoon. Vickie Magee is scheduled to provide face painting from noon to 3 p.m., and live music is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. featuring Steve Peterson and Richard Grant. Beverages and food will be available for purchase all day.
