The Shawano County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve a new speed zone for part of County Road D in Tilleda at a meeting July 24.
Officials with the Town of Seneca had originally requested a speed reduction from 55 mph to 25 mph on County Road D between Nursery Lane and Hatchery Road. Instead, the county’s highway and parks committee and public safety committee recommended a reduction to 45 mph.
A speed study of the area in question determined it warranted a transitional zone before the 25 mph zone in Tilleda.
The reduced speed zone will be established on County Road D from a point 250 feet east of Nursery Lane, proceeding west and northwest for 1,600 feet to a point 50 feet southeast of Hatchery Road.
The highway and parks committee approved the change at its July 2 meeting, while the public safety committee gave its OK at a July 10 meeting.
