Nicholas G. Vandenberg

Nicholas G. “Nick” Vandenberg, 63, of Appleton, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at his home. Nick was born on Feb. 14, 1951, in Appleton to Richard and Frieda (Skorie) Vandenberg. He spent his youth in Appleton and graduated from Appleton East High School. Nick was employed by and retired from Voith Paper. He enjoyed working on motorcycles, hunting and going to gun shows. Nick was a jack of all trades, always fixing something. Nick enjoyed cooking. Nick is survived by his mother, Frieda Vandenberg; children, Nikki (John) Weaver and Jacob Vandenberg; granddaughter, Kitana Weaver; siblings, Harlan (Tammy) Vandenberg, Anne (Willie) Luedtke, Ellen (Jeffrey) Hager, Mark (Sandy) Vandenberg, Teresa (Rod) Freimuth, Rose (Bill) Adamietz and Karen (Loren) Doxtater; sister-in-law, Beverly Vandenberg; and former wife, Ellen Vandenberg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nick was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Patrick and Joseph (Linda) Vandenberg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with the Rev. Brian Wideman officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, from 9-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
