Musician Shari Sarazin promises to deliver relaxing and spiritual melodies when she performs a sacred harp and song ministry program at 1 p.m. Sunday at Boarders Inn and Suites.
The 54-year-old New Lisbon resident brings a lifetime of musical experience, including the last 14 years as a harpist performing coast to coast.
“It’s a great program for escaping the busy-ness of life and relax,” said Sarazin, who was invited by Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, the program sponsor.
Sarazin said church member Karen Sojka read an article on her, reviewed her music and contacted her. Sarazin’s performance of sacred music at Boarders, W7393 River Bend Road, Shawano, will combine vocal elements and the harp.
Sarazin plans to open the presentation with “Amazing Grace,” which has drawn positive feedback at prior recitals.
“I think that really strikes a chord with the crowd,” Sarazin said.
She also plans to sing the official state ballad, “Oh Wisconsin, Land of my Dreams,” which was written by her grandmother.
Sarazin received a degree from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she studied vocal music performance and education. A former music teacher in Alliance, Nebraska, she also has produced music therapy programs for elderly and disabled residents.
“I take the harp and develop music for the elderly. It is a healing instrument and soothes them,” Sarazin said.
A free-will offering will be taken at Sunday’s performance. Sarazin’s CDs will be available for purchase following the performance.
