Motorcycle driver dies in head-on crash

A 39-year-old Shawano area man died July 22 as the result of a two-vehicle crash on Hillcrest Lane in the Town of Wescott, according to the Shawano County Sheriff's Department.

At 9:22 a.m., the dispatch center received a report of an accident involving a motorcycle and FedEx delivery truck. Initial reports indicated the driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and had possible head injuries.

Multiple Shawano County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene along with fire and EMS units. When deputies and EMS arrived on scene, they provided medical attention to the driver of the motorcycle, but he pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the FedEx truck was identified as a 25-year-old man from the Green Bay area.

Preliminary investigation indicates the FedEx truck was traveling northbound on Hillcrest Lane. The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Hillcrest Lane when it crossed into the northbound Lane and struck the FedEx truck head on.

The FedEx truck came to rest in the northbound lane of traffic, and the motorcycle came to rest in the east ditch line.

The Shawano County Sheriff Department was assisted by Wescott EMS, Shawano Ambulance and Shawano Fire Department.

No more details, including the names of the individuals, are being released as the investigation continues.
