It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Michael Kallas. Mike passed unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, at the age of 62.
Mike was born Sept. 9, 1962, in Bay View (Milwaukee) to Larry and Betty (Lewandowski) Kallas. He was a graduate of Bay View High School.
On July 20, 2007, Mike married the love of his life Kathy, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lena.
A hard working and devoted man, Mike dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring the well-being of those he loved most.
He was the foundation of our family – steady, strong and endlessly supportive. His unwavering love and guidance shaped our lives in more ways than we can count.
Mike always had his children’s best interests at heart, offering a steady hand and a shoulder to lean on during life’s toughest moments. Whether through quiet strength or wise advice, he was always there – teaching us how to live our lives with a purpose, with resilience and kindness.
He instilled in us a very strong work ethic and life skills that we will carry with us and pass along to our own children, ensuring that his legacy lives on through the generations.
Mike was a proud iron worker and Iron Workers Local 8 Union member. Most recently, he was employed as a senior inspector with HNTB.
He enjoyed time with his family more than anything but also loved scuba diving, gardening, hunting, fishing and baseball.
Mike will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends and all who had the honor of knowing him. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughters and son, Katee (Jason) Inghram, Kristee (Jason Sauer) Kallas, Kellee (Scott) Umentum, Kasee Kallas, Amie (Burt) Stage and John (Hatti) Gaulke. He is further survived by grandchildren, Luke, Will, Summer, Eleanor, Harper, Hunter, Payton, Halie, Allison, Mariah, Bella, Beau, Johnny, Waylon, Adaline and Bruce; Uncle David (Chris) Lewandowski and Aunt Nancy (Jim) Behr; and dear friends, Denny and Brenda Hurning; mother-in-law, Barb Egly; brothers-in-law, Karl (Vickie) Egly and Tim (Kathy) Egly; a sister, Linda (Mike) Kochanski; and a brother, Larry Kallas; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and other close family and friends.
There will be a gathering to honor and celebrate Mike’s life on Friday June 13, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home in Lena. Visitation will continue on Saturday June 14, 2025, from 9-10:45 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena. There will be Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church of Lena at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery of Lena.
