Two veterinarians donated their time Sunday to check dogs at a clinic sponsored by Keshena Animal Health and Rescue at the Menominee Tribal Transit garage.
Dr. Charity Gottfredsen, Chicago, and Dr. Krissy Kistner, Waukesha, examined 110 dogs.
“We reach out to them and they offer to come for free,” said Lisa Wilson, treasurer of KAHR.
The doctors learn about the clinic mostly by word of mouth, but Kistner has a home on Legend Lake, and she and Gottfredsen are friends.
The veterinarians offered physicals, blood tests and dewormings, and dog owners could purchase a microchip to implant in their animals.
The clinic was set up with people manning various stations around the garage.
“Everybody was a volunteer,” Wilson said.
There was no charge for the clinic, but people were encouraged to make a donation.
Menominee County helps KAHR with a yearly donation of $7,000.
A clinic will be offered in the spring for surgeries.
