A man was arrested and faces unknown charges after a standoff with Shawano police the afternoon of July 18.
According to a Shawano Police Department press release, at about 2:45 p.m., they received a call about a disturbance in the 1000 block of South Franklin Street. A man had barricaded himself inside the residence.
The man threatened harm to others with a dangerous weapon and to start a fire in the residence, which led to the Shawano County Special Response Team being called in to assist.
Within a short time, according to the release, the man was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant, with other charges to be forwarded to the Shawano-Menominee County District Attorney’s Office.
Police said it was an isolated incident, and the community was not in danger.
