An 80-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash June 15 on Highway 29.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, around 10:22 a.m., the dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash on the highway east of Broadway Road in the Town of Hartland.
A preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV traveling eastbound on Highway 29 collided with a motorcycle that had just entered the highway from a nearby business. It appears the SUV was unable to brake in time to avoid the collision.
The SUV was occupied by a single individual who was uninjured. The motorcycle was operated by an 80-year-old man from the Bonduel area. He was found unresponsive at the scene and was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Bonduel Fire Department, Shawano Ambulance, Bonduel EMS, Shawano County Highway Department and the Shawano County Coroner’s Office.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family. The crash remains under active investigation.
