Lorraine Rose Splitgerber

Lorraine Rose Splitgerber, 89, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2013, at her home. Lorraine was born June 22, 1924, in the town of Waukechon, Shawano County, a daughter of the late August and Laura (Bluemke) Rusch. Lorraine attended the Shawano schools. On March 22 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Splitgerber at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. The couple made their home in Shawano following their marriage. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2011. Lorraine was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano as well as a member of the VFW Post 2723 Ladies Auxiliary in Shawano. Her loving cat, Shadow, was always at her side. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (James) Caldwell, of Shawano, and Connie Splitgerber (Paula Keenan), of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a daughter in-law, Judy Splitgerber, of Appleton. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Debbie (Gary) Polum, of Shawano, Robert Splitgerber, of Appleton, and Todd (Val) Splitgerber, of Neenah; her great-grandchildren, Tracy Caldwell (Mike Recore), of Appleton, Tyler Polum, of Shawano, Paige Splitgerber, of Neenah; one great-great-granddaughter, Riley Recore, of Appleton; her sisters, Betty Panko, of Appleton, and Barbara Elliott, of Appleton; a brother, Roger Rusch, of Racine; many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; a son, LeRoy Splitgerber; sisters, Agnes Schroeder and Adeline Hoffmann; and her brothers, Harry Rusch, Harvey Rusch and Gordon Rusch. Funeral services for Lorraine R. Splitgerber will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at St James Lutheran Church on Friday after 9 a.m. until the hour of service that morning. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St James Lutheran Church or for the Shawano VFW Auxiliary.
