Lois A. Tuschy

Lois A. Tuschy, 93, of Suring, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Lois was born on July 8, 1930, in Breed to the late Erick and Hilda (Hein) Schuettpelz. She attended Logan Grade School and graduated from Mountain High School with the class of 1948, the last graduating class. On May 17, 1952, Lois married Richard Tuschy. In 1973, Lois began working at Nu-Line and remained there for 13 years. She then started Flowers by Lois in 1985, specializing in bridal flowers. Lois was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed, being baptized, confirmed and married there. She was also a ladies aid member for over 60 years and served on the church council. Lois enjoyed writing and wrote her life history and short stories for family affairs. She was very active in the community, participating in heart and cancer drives. In September 2007, Lois and Richard served as grand marshals for the Suring Labor Day Celebration, and Lois received the outstanding citizen award. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, and getting together to play cards. Lois also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school events. Lois is survived by her son, Larry (Kathy) Tuschy; four grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer) Tuschy, Philip (Sarah) Tuschy, Jennifer (Jason) Fenendael and Robert (Kate) Behrend; five great-grandchildren, Onnah, Ava, Oliver, Aubree and Teagen; sister, Joann (Richard) Saffran; sisters-in-law, Lorna, Linda and Joann. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rich, in 2009; daughter, Diane Behrend; granddaughter, Alicia; sister, Betty (Elmer); infant sister, Grace. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steven Stoll officiating. Lois will be interred at Breed Union Cemetery beside Rich. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
