Local 4-H team wins dairy quiz bowl

A team of local 4-H club members won its division of the State 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Portage on Feb. 7 and will advance to the national competition. Four local teams participated in the contest. Members of the winning senior team were Ben Schmidt, Bonduel, Mason Jauquet, Pulaski, Kaila Wussow, Bonduel, and Jen Krull, Bonduel. They will compete in the national dairy quiz bowl in November in Louisville, Kentucky. Krull and Wussow were part of the original group that started competing in 2006 under the guidance of coach Nicolle Wussow. Current coaches for the team are Heather Jauquet, Pulaski, and Sara Harbaugh, Marion. The competition consists of four-person teams, ages 9-17. The students are asked individual and “toss-up” questions, where they must be the first to buzz in to answer. The questions all pertain to dairy industry topics, such as milking equipment, diseases, feeding and nutrition, and marketing/business.
