Life always gives us something to complain about

I heard the other day that it was Clean Your Desk Day. I had to laugh at that. First of all, I don’t have a normal size desk. When I built the house, I wanted an office and a built-in desk. A place for everything and everything in its place, I thought. Yeah, well, that might have lasted if I wasn’t a clutter bug at heart. I have occasionally gotten to the bottom of the clutter on the desk. There are a couple of problems that happen at those times. One is I can’t find anything once I put it where it belongs, because I forget where that was. The second thing is that is difficult to get down to the bottom of the whole built-in desk, as by the time I am done with it all, the first part I cleaned is already getting cluttered. Typically, this is the time of year I would be thinking of cleaning corners and organizing things that don’t get done other times Some years I am downstairs sewing for much of the winter, but I haven’t really gotten anything going as yet. Busy doesn’t begin to explain my weeks of 2015 to date. I have started physical therapy for my back, that is at least two trips to Shawano per week. Plus, I am trying my best to keep the LCFS Thrift Shop open, so if no one else volunteers to work on an open date, “Miss Volunteer Leah fills the bill.” People have been calling or talking to me about it, and helping as best they can, but still, some days are short of workers. One thing that helps people in Wisconsin survive winter is the Green Bay Packers. The glow from their win over the Lions lasted almost to the Cowboy game. Then, with their win over those boys from Texas, I walked on cloud nine for another several days. Can they win in Seattle? Will they win in Seattle? I say, yes they can win, but who knows if they will win. That football takes funny bounces sometimes, and the Packers are a different team than they were early in the season, so I won’t count them out. Rather, I will be watching and cheering, and hoping for the best. Another strange winter happening this year has been my ice maker. It doesn’t matter the temperature outside, I still like drinking ice water. Just before Christmas the ice maker chute clogged up and no ice came out. That meant I had to reach inside and grab the ice to put in my glass. Not horrible, but annoying. I figured the ice container should be taken out to see what was clogging things up, but I couldn’t lift it, and I never would remember when one of my kids was here. Finally, I did remember on Sunday, and my son took it off, only to discover that there was ice blocking the ice chute. Why ice would freeze together so hard it wouldn’t budge, I don’t know. A little hot water did the trick of getting it loosened up. Now the ice comes flying out of the chute, not always landing in my glass. Instead it often lands on the floor, breaking into pieces. It makes me laugh, because now that it is working, it is still giving me reason to complain. Oh well. I guess if we run out of things to complain about, life will be dull indeed.
