The Lena Police Department will hold National Night Out from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the St. Anne Parish grounds. The event is free and open to the community.
National Night Out is a national event held across the U.S. every year to promote crime prevention and drug prevention. It’s an event for families and neighbors to come together to get to know one another and help keep communities safe.
Highlights of Lena’s National Night Out include a visit by Eagle III, an Oconto County Sheriff’s Department K-9 presentation, tae kwon do demonstration and Lena Fire Department presentation. Lena Police Officer Adam Waeghe will perform a field sobriety test using Fatal Vision goggles.
Lena police and fire vehicles, a Wisconsin State Trooper vehicle, Department of Natural Resources/forestry vehicle with Smokey Bear, and an Oconto Falls ambulance will be on display.
Activities include a coloring contest, a chance to win a new bike, bike helmet and other prizes, free food, cupcakes, an inflatable bounce house, jousting bouncer, face painting, tattoos and games.
Oconto County will hand out information, and the Lena Friends of the Library will lead games. Lena High School’s National Honor Society will operate a dunk tank and provide other games.
