Kathleen B. Genke

Kathleen B. (Eschner) Genke, 69, of the town of Sheboygan, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2014. Kathy was born on June 24, 1945, in Clinton, Iowa. Her parents were Harlan and Dolores (Eastman) Eschner. She attended Gillett High School. Kathy and Larry Genke were united in marriage on Dec. 15, 1962, at the home of her grandma and grandpa Eschner in Gillett. Kathy was a devoted homemaker all her life. For the last many years she and Larry ran Kathy’s Craft Korner, a dream of Kathy’s that Larry helped fulfill. Kathy will always be remembered as the loving wife of Larry, seldom leaving each other’s side for 51 years. Kathy loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She would look forward to holidays so she could prepare everyone’s favorite foods. Kathy would try to make everyday a holiday or picnic, just to have her family together. She always wanted her family to remember the most important things in life: faith, love and family. Now Kathy is waiting in heaven for the greatest family reunion ever. We love her and look forward to that day. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry; her five children, Terri (Carl) Keppler, of Howards Grove, Sherri (Scott) Hilbelink, Jackie (Karl) Freitag, Doug (Kim) Genke, of Elkhart Lake, and Troy (Sandra) Genke, of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her mother, Dolores Eschner, of Sheboygan. Kathy is also survived by two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Eschner. A memorial service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Word of Grace Community Church in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Derik Armstrong officiating. Private family burial will precede at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 3-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the church.
