John A. Michalowski, 64, of Clintonville, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2014, at his residence. John was born on March 20, 1950, in Bolton, England. He was the son of the late Jan and Elena (Lekstutyte) Michalowski.
As a young boy, John moved to Wisconsin, where he attended Horlick High School in Racine. He worked for a few years at Green Manufacturing in Racine and was united in marriage to Liliane “Lee” Anthofer on Oct. 11, 1977. In 1980 the couple moved to the Cloverleaf Lakes in the town of Belle Plaine, where they operated a tavern called The Raven for a few years. In the early 1990s, John became employed with Marion Body Works in Marion and worked there until 2007. John enjoyed fishing and trap shooting in his younger years as well as collecting coins, listening to music and playing drums.
Survivors include his wife, Liliane “Lee” Michalowski, Clintonville; stepson: Steve Anthofer, Clintonville; brother, Frank (Mary Anna) Michalowski, Mount Pleasant; nephews, Brian (Kristy) Michalowski and Nathan Michalowski; and great-nephews, Matthew and Andrew Michalowski.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jan Michalowski and Elena Retzer, and his stepfather, Sam Retzer.
A memorial service will be held for John on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville with Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for John may be directed to the humane society.
