Jerome “Jerry” R. Anderson, 75, of Gillett passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Jerome was born in Racine on June 14, 1939, to Grady and Alma (Yorke) Anderson. He married Kathleen Zuber in Milwaukee on June 6, 1964. The couple has lived in the Gillett area since 1972.
Jerome started out as a city bus driver in Milwaukee and then worked as a mechanic at Marquardt’s in Oconto Falls. He was an over-the-road truck driver for over 40 years, working for Country Gardens, Princl Transport, Packerland Packing and JBS Transport . He logged over 6 million miles.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR and spending time with his dog, Howard. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Gillett and a leader for the Boy Scouts.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Gillett; four children, Jerry (Julie) Anderson, of California, Wendy (J.T.) Rumsey, of Kentucky, Christy (David) Anderson, of Green Bay, and Greg (Dawn) Anderson, of Montana; a sister, Gloria; and six grandchildren, Justin, Sasha, Kayla, Bethany, Gretta and Finn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bobbie Jean.
A gathering of family and friends was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Sunday, April 26, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
