Hwy. 22 utility work ends on city streets

The water main and sanitary sewer installation work on Highway 22 from Cherry Street to Highland Drive was completed last week. The contractor completed asphalt paving restoration for the $8 million street reconstruction project that started in August and will continue in the spring, summer and fall of 2015. Signs for the Highland Drive detour route were removed Friday, and all construction equipment was removed. The utility work was originally scheduled to be completed in November, before winter arrived, but an early arrival of cold weather caused the project to extend into December.
