To the editor:
I have just returned home from helping out at a DNR Hunter Safety Course held at the Community Center in the town of How. Many thanks should go to the Suring Sportsmen’s Club for its sponsorship of the event, to the DNR-trained volunteers who taught the curriculum, and to the adult students who took the course and assisted the instructor as they were able.
But I am writing in particular to compliment the young people who attended the class. They were well-prepared and attentive to the presenter.
Because of some unforeseen circumstances, the evaluation phase of the day took longer than expected. The young students were patient and did not complain about having to stay longer than expected and having to wait for a turn for evaluation in a place with not much to do.
Another way to say that would be to say they were kids who behaved very much as you would like adults to behave — in fact, better than some grownups might have in the same circumstances.
I enjoyed spending the day with these young people, even though it was a longer day than we expected. Thanks, you guys.
