Connor Sefcik pitched four scoreless innings in relief, but the Panthers’ offense was shut out April 14 against undefeated Denmark.
Sefcik allowed four hits, one walk and struck out four following an early departure by Riley Gruetzmacher.
The Panthers were handcuffed by a strong pitching performance by Riley Pelishek, who struck out 12 Panthers and allowed two hits and one walk for Denmark (8-0, 2-0 Bay Conference).
The two hits for Oconto Falls (0-3, 0-3 Bay) came from seniors Brett Ash (1-3) and Dylan Woosman (1-3).

Junior Madison Helmle hit a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to give Oconto Falls its first Bay Conference win of the season against visiting Denmark.
Oconto Falls (2-3, 1-2 Bay Conference) trailed 1-0 until the bottom of the third when junior Brittany Russell doubled in leadoff hitter Liz Manns. In the fifth inning, Manns hit into a fielder’s choice, resulting in a fielding error that scored Sadie Pankratz to pull the Panthers ahead 2-1.
Oconto Falls sophomore MaKenna Kussow, who went the distance, protected the 2-1 lead until Taylor Ullman hit a game-tying home run in the top of the seventh, setting up Helmle’s heroics. Kussow struck out one, allowed two hits and gave up two earned runs on eight hits.
Ullman took the loss for Denmark (3-3, 1-2 Bay). She pitched six innings, walked none and allowed five earned runs on five hits.
Gillett/Suring 11
Wausaukee 0
Gillett/Suring (6-0, 2-0) won its sixth straight game April 14.
Gillett/Suring’s Jessica Anderson pitched a five-inning shutout, striking out four and allowing two walks and seven hits against Wausaukee (1-2, 0-1 Marinette & Oconto Conference).
Anderson also scored three runs and batted 2 for 3. Freshman Willow Pecha also was 2 for 3 and scored three runs.
GOLF
Gillett takes third at Wausaukee triangular
Gillett Secondary School took third place in a nine-hole triangular Thursday at Hunter’s Glen Golf Club in Crivitz.
Coleman (184) won the meet. Wausaukee (194) placed second and Gillett (252) third.
Brock Warden was Gillett’s leading golfer, taking ninth, with a score of 57. Teammate Mark Fischer shot a 58.
Coleman’s Jacob Woulf was the meet medalist with a 43.
