Hawks fifth at Bay tourney

The Shawano Community High School girls golf team finished sixth in the Bay Conference after a fifth-place showing at the Bay Conference tournament Tuesday at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf. Shawano shot a 430 on the day to take fifth, finishing behind Denmark (375), Marinette (380), West De Pere (391) and Seymour (429). Luxemburg-Casco (469) and Oconto Falls (469) tied for sixth. The finish gave Shawano 25 points, landing the Hawks in sixth place for the season behind Marinette (102), Denmark (96), West De Pere (71), Seymour (53) and Oconto Falls (27). Luxemburg-Casco finished the season with four conference points. Shawano junior Julia Beck, who led the Hawks with a 103 Tuesday, and freshman Brianna Zook, who finished with a 106, earned honorable mention all-conference honors. Sydney Schreiber shot a 107, Emily Smith 114 and Gabby Krueger 126 at the tournament. Marinette’s Kayla Thielen and Denmark’s Leah Hanson tied for medalists honors with a score of 83. The Hawks will compete in the WIAA Division 1 regional tournament Wednesday at Thornberry Creek at Oneida.
