Kaukauna Invite
Rachael Carroll and Jaelyn Hietpas each went undefeated for Shawano at No. 1 and No. 4 singles at the Kaukauna Invite.
The Hawks battled the weather as well as three very good teams for Menasha, Kaukauna and Plymouth.
Menasha 4, Shawano 3
Carroll cleaned house 6-0, 6-0, and Hietpas was nearly identical in 6-1, 6-0 wins. Hadley Rettke won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, while Laney Rich lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
The Hawks lost all three doubles matches.
Claire Weiland and Olivia Dobratz lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, Madison Miller and Lana Owens lost a close 7-5, 6-3 contest at No. 2, and Chloe Gilling and Ruby Onesti lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Shawano 6, Kaukauna 1
It was nearly a clean sweep for Shawano when they took on their hosts, winning all four singles and two doubles matches.
Carroll won 6-1, 6-0; Rettke won 6-4, 6-0; Rich won 6-1, 6-0; and Hietpas shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Weiland and Dobratz lost a close contest at No. 1 doubles 6-3, 7-6 (4). Miller and Owens won 6-2, 6-2, and Onesti and Gilling won 6-2, 4-0.
Plymouth 4, Shawano 3
Shawano pulled out three wins against Plymouth but couldn’t capture a fourth to take the match. Carroll was victorious win 6-0, 6-0 shutouts. Rich won in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 10-8, and Hietpas won 6-4, 6-3.
Rettke fell to Annalise Huss 6-3, 6-1. All doubles teams lost. Dobratz and Weiland lost 6-3, 6-1; Miller and Owens went down 6-1, 6-0; and Onesti and Gilling were shut out 6-0, 6-0. Shawano’s current record is 3-15.
