Over the past few months, GOAL Academy, which is part of Gillett Public Schools, has been collaborating with Filament Games, a Madison-based game production studio that creates learning games.
The partnership has been working well for both entities. The GOAL students have received free access to all of Filament’s educational games, and Filament has used feedback from GOAL students and instructors to help shape future products.
“This is an incredible opportunity for GOAL Academy students,” said Ray Johnson, GOAL middle school instructor. “Not only do the kids get free access to the educational games, but we as instructors receive the curriculum that allows us to turn the simulations into usable classroom lessons.”
Representatives of Filament recently visited the academy.
“We were really excited to visit GOAL Academy because the school has been an enthusiastic supporter of our mission to make learning both fun and engaging,” said Brandon Pittser, marketing director for Filament. “It was great to see Mr. (Ray) Johnson’s students explore our games and apply their intelligence and curiosity.”
Filament just released a suite of learning games with curriculum called PLEx Life Science. PLEx stands for play, learn, experiment.
