Geraldine L. “Geri” Prickette, 74, passed away on Sept. 6, 2024, in Shawano.
Geri was born on April 14, 1950, in Brown County to the late Everett C. and Mildred A. (Benson) Thoreson. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1968. After high school, Geri courageously moved to Milwaukee on her own as an independent hearing-impaired young woman. She made a life for herself in the big city and it was there where she met her lifelong friend Linda, with whom she shared many good times and created many lasting memories.
At an Independence Day party in the mid-1980s, Geri met her future husband, Douglas E. “Doug” Prickette. Little did they know at the time just how much of a true blessing she would be in Doug’s life.
Geri owned and operated Geri’s Word Processing and Resume in the 1980s and 1990s and enjoyed providing this service to the community. On July 4, 2009, Geri and Doug were united in marriage in Shawano. Doug preceded Geri in death in 2013.
Geri’s true passions in life were her family, her dogs and her home. She was a skilled homemaker, a talented cook and a gifted seamstress. Geri was an amazing woman who, even with the additional challenges of hearing impairment, never complained and never let anything hold her back. She will be truly missed and fondly remembered.
Geri is survived by her children, Alica (Edward) Blas, Annette (Joseph) Wendorff, Anthony (Brenda) Prickette and Andrew (Annie) Prickette; grandchildren, Sarita (Mike), Nicholas, Jonathan (Joanalyn), Tanji, Thomas (Eliana), Vincent and Mitchell; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends, including close friend, Linda Zoellner.
Geri is preceded in death by her husband, Doug; a foster brother; her father, Everett; and her mother, Mildred, and partner, Bill.
A graveside service for Geri will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano this coming spring at noon on Friday, May 23, 2025.
