Doris L. Lunde

Doris L. Lunde, 97, Neenah, formerly of Green Bay and Oconto Falls, died Saturday morning, April 25, 2015, at a Neenah hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Trempealeau to Otto and Mary “Maime” (McManus) Crivits. Doris grew up in Trempealeau, where she graduated high school and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She furthered her studies at the University of Iowa in speech therapy. Following graduation from college, Doris taught in Spring Green and Mauston. On Aug. 28, 1945, she married Harold C. Lunde in Trempealeau. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Cable and then Wycoff, Minnesota. Doris worked in the school offices in Mindoro and Pepin before teaching again in Blanchardville and Dodgeville, before moving to Oconto Falls in 1972, where they made their home until retiring to Green Bay. While living in Oconto Falls, Doris was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was a current member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Over the years, Doris volunteered for many of her church’s activities, as well as CMH Auxiliary in Oconto Falls, remained active in local American Legion auxiliaries for 40 years and Bornemann Nursing Home in Green Bay. Survivors are her two children, Gary (Mary) Lunde, Neenah, and Luan Reese, Ridgeway; two grandsons, Brian (Brianna) Lunde, Neenah, and Matthew (Beth) Lunde, Rogers, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Annabelle Mary Lunde and twins Louisa Patricia and Timothy Matthew Lunde. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1998, one brother, Lyle Crivits, and two infant granddaughters. Visitation will be held after 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services with American Legion Auxiliary honors will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor James Gerth officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
