The search for a family living agent for Oconto County began last week.
On Sept. 23, the Oconto County Extension Education Committee voted unanimously to refill the family living agent vacancy created in August when Donna Doll-Yogerst, family living agent since 1980, was issued a 60-day notice by the committee.
According to John Pinkart, head of the Oconto County University of Wisconsin-Extension Department, the position is scheduled to be filled by the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015.
The confidentiality of closed session discussions prevented him from disclosing the reason for Doll-Yogerst’s dismissal, although he said the committee based its decision on a desire to move forward.
Doll-Yogerst declined to comment.
According to a news release issued by Oconto County UW-Extension, Doll-Yogerst will continue her contributions to family living programs in UW-Extension, initially in a role supporting ongoing special projects.
The special projects will be coordinated by the state UW-Extension program, and her salary will be provided by the state.
Doll-Yogerst will not continue providing the programming she has recently offered in Oconto County, including Powerful Tools for Caregivers, Healthy Hearts and Strong Bones. Pinkart said other individuals are being trained as facilitators to lead the Extension programs.
Doll-Yogerst was promoted to professor in the Extension’s department of family development in 1995. She served as the department chair for eight years from 2005-2013. She has worked 34 years for USDA and UW-Extension.
As an educator in Oconto County, Doll-Yogerst created many educational resources and most recently offered programs in the area of family health and well-being.
