Clarice M. Stib, 87, Stiles, died Sunday morning, Sept. 8, 2013, at home. She was born May 22, 1926, to Clarence and Lillian (Gomney) VanBoven.
On May 7, 1949, she married Hollis Stib in Lena. Because of her husband’s work with the railroad, the couple lived in Random Lake, Waldo, Appleton, Freeport, Ill., Mason City, Iowa, Aberdeen, S.D., Plymouth and Milwaukee before retiring to Stiles in 1987.
Clarice worked as a cosmetologist both before and after her marriage in the various communities in which she lived. She will be fondly remembered as the “Treat Lady” for the delicious treats she would make for her family, friends and even complete strangers.
Survivors are one daughter, Patricia Stib, Aberdeen, S.D.; three grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Steve VanBoven, Stiles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hollis, in 2002, and one daughter, Jerri Lynn Stib.
Following private family viewing, there will be no public funeral service. Cremation will follow, with burial of the urn in the town of Stiles Cemetery.
