The Casimir Pulaski Days celebration will not be held in 2027, organizers announced following an April 22 meeting. While this longstanding community tradition will not take place next year, the organization is leaving the door open for its return in the future.
“This was not an easy decision,” according to a statement from representatives with Promote Pulaski. “Casimir Pulaski Days has been a meaningful part of our community for generations. However, in order to continue producing an event of this scale, it requires strong and consistent support across many levels — from businesses, sponsors, volunteers and the broader community.”
This decision follows a comprehensive review of the 2026 event, including financial outcomes, volunteer capacity, sponsorship levels and overall community participation. Key challenges included reduced funding support, limited business participation, increasing operational demands and volunteer burnout.
The celebration is held across multiple days in March each year. It honors Pulaski, a heroic figure of the Revolutionary War who saved the life of George Washington and after whom the village was named.
Activities in 2026 included a jigsaw puzzle contest, a polka jam session, live music sessions, museum displays and a Sunday brunch.
With the pause of the 2027 event, the nonprofit organization Promote Pulaski will take time to refocus its efforts, strengthen its foundation and explore new opportunities that align with long-term sustainability.
Promote Pulaski is actively seeking:
• Businesses willing to take an active role in future events and initiatives.
• Community partners and organizations interested in collaboration.
• Volunteers and leaders ready to help shape the future of Pulaski.
• New ideas and creative approaches to keep Pulaski vibrant and visible.
“There has to be a shared investment,” the statement read. “For events like this to succeed, businesses and organizations need to have a stake in the outcome. When that happens, momentum builds and sustainability becomes possible.”
Promote Pulaski acknowledges the realities many volunteers face, balancing full-time careers, families and community involvement. Moving forward, the goal is to develop stronger systems, shared leadership and sustainable processes that support people and progress.
Community members, businesses and organizations interested in getting involved in future initiatives are encouraged to reach out and be part of the conversation.
