Carl W. Manns

Carl W. Manns, 91, of Green Bay, passed away April 5, 2022, at The Jack and Engrid Meng Residence. He was born July 20, 1930, in Milwaukee. Son of the late Carl and Crystal (Wendt) Manns, he was a graduate of Green Bay West High School with the class of 1948. He then attended UW-Madison, where he received his bachelor’s degree and was also a member of the UW Marching Band. On July 14, 1960, Carl married the former Mary Newberg at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death April 15, 2018. He was the senior vice president of Mortgage Lending at First Financial Bank, Stevens Point. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Carl was a lifelong accomplished sailor and enjoyed sailing to many ports of the Great Lakes. He had a passion for listening to big band mMusic. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and loved all the family pets. In his later years, Carl enjoyed playing tennis. Carl is survived by one daughter, Susan (Gary) Gibson; one son, Mark (Sheila) Manns; five grandchildren, Kyle and Madison Gibson, Elizabeth, Michael and Mitchel Manns; one brother-in-law, Charles (Diane) Newberg. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary Manns. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay with the Rev. Lori Swenson officiating the service. Visitation will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home from noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Carl’s name to the Oconto Area Humane Society. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Unity Hospice for their care and compassion shown to their father.
