Bonduel High School honored athletes for their accomplishments in the fall sports season with a banquet and awards program Monday at the school.
Jen Dowden, the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 player of the year, was named the volleyball team’s Most Valuable Player. She, senior Lexi Reinke and junior Taylor Weier also were honored as the team captains. Junior Cathryn Siolka earned the Coach’s Award.
Football
Senior Hunter VanDerLinden, who broke the school’s career rushing record with 4,142 yards and counting, was named the football team’s Most Valuable Player. The defensive player award went to senior linebacker Dan Tauchen. Senior Race McClone was named lineman of the year. Junior running back/linebacker Blake Stoss and junior offensive/defensive lineman Bennett Gunderson shared the Most Improved Player award. Senior Hunter Berry was named special teams player of the year. Freshman Elijah Mastey was named the scout team player of the year.
Cross-country
Senior Sam Falck and sophomore Anna Palmer were named the Most Valuable Runner for the boys and girls cross-country teams, respectively. Sophomore Austin Kurey and junior Kaylee Rynish were named the Most Improved Runners. Palmer and senior Travis Wollenberg were the teams’ captains.
Girls golf
Senior Elizabeth Schaal was the Most Valuable Player of the girls golf team. Senior Samantha Schaal was named Most Improved Player. Senior Taylor Diemel and junior Danielle Lautenbach were the team’s captains.
Girls swimming
Junior Clare Martell was named the Shawano/Bonduel girls swim team’s Most Valuable Player. The team selects an MVP from both Bonduel and Shawano. Shawano Community High School senior Ali Hanson was the SCHS MVP.
Dance
Mikayla Maroszek was named Most Valuable Dancer, and Tamara Rottier earned the Best Showmanship Award. Kayla Beyersdorf was the team’s captain.
