Anita R. Stake, 90, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
Anita was born on Sept. 15, 1924, in the Township of Maple Creek, Outagamie County, as the daughter of the late Gustave and Edith (Mansfield) Affeldt.
Anita grew up on her family’s farm in Maple Creek, where she attended Maple Corners Grade School. She was united in marriage on Sept. 15, 1945, to Omar Stake at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville. After marriage, the couple farmed in rural New London until 1973 when they retired and moved to the Cloverleaf Lakes in the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. During this time, Anita began working for Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass and later at Maple Lane Health Care Center in Belle Plaine.
Omar preceded his wife in death on Aug. 20, 1992. Anita then moved from the lakes to Shawano, where she was a faithful member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with Omar in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Anita also enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, watching sports on television, and even an occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include her sister, Ada Chase, Oshkosh; brother, Arnie Dalum, Kimberly; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omar; three brothers, Art, Alton and Alvin Affeldt; and three sisters, Alice Hamilton, Arbutus Zitske and Ardys Christensen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville with the Rev. Paul Kuehn officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
