Both the Shawano Community High School boys and girls track and field teams had members advance from the WIAA Division 1 regional at Bay Port on Tuesday.
Daniel Boivin won the pole vault (14 feet, 6 inches) and finished second in the 300 hurdles (42.0 seconds) to advance in both events. Jake Klister (1:59.12) added a second-place finish in the 800, and Zeke Gueths (144-4) was second in the discus.
Shawano’s boys team finished seventh in the team standings with 44 points. Bay Port won the regional with 189.5 points, followed by Green Bay Preble (133.5) and Ashwaubenon (92).
The Hawks girls team finished eighth with 38 points. Preble finished first with 128 points, and Notre Dame Academy was second with 126.
Kristian Kurtz qualified for the sectional in both the 200 (27.30) and the 400 (1:00.93). She was fourth in the 200 and second in the 400.
Onalee Siegfried (9-3) also advanced by finishing fourth in the pole vault.
The sectional will be held Friday at St. Norbert College in De Pere.
