Ice Bears score eight goals in each of two wins

Dec. 21 Bay Area 8, Lakeshore Lightning 1 The Bay Area girls hockey team lit up the Lakeshore Lightning 8-1 on the ice in Mequon. Seven different girls scored for the Ice Bears, with Elizabeth Zunker the only one scoring twice. Addison Dahl and Hannah Von Haden each scored in the first period. Emily Bill and Zunker scored in the second. In the third, goals were scored by Tiana Stindt, Briana Anundsen, Julianne Bradford and Zunker. Collecting assists were Bradford, Ava McDonald, Bill (two), Faye Brunke, Dahl, Rachael Beeck, Von Haden, Mya Sheppard and Abby Mommaerts. The Ice Bears had 45 shots on goal compared to only 13 for the Lightning. Reese Spiering had 12 saves for Bay Area. The Ice Bears will host the Rock County Fury at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 27. Dec. 20 Bay Area 8, Rochester Century/John Marshall 0 Rochester Century/John Marshall was no match for the Bay Area Ice Bears, as the home team shut out their guests 8-0. The Ice Bears had 41 shots on goal, compared to only two for Rochester Century/John Marshall. Faye Brunke scored twice, both times in the second period. Assists came from Julianne Bradford on the first goal, and Olympia Simons and Claire Gerarden on the second. Scoring started in the first period with goals by Abby Mommaerts with assists from Aisling Buchan and Elizabeth Zunker, Simons with an asset from Hannah Von Haden, and Bradford with Brunke assisting. Rachael Beeck scored first in the second period, with Von Haden assisting. Brunke’s goals followed. In the third period, Mya Sheppard scored with help from Addison Gady and Bailey Hronek, and Von Haden scored with Briana Anundsen assisting.
