Hodkiewicz leads Shawano wrestlers at Sheboygan North

Jan. 25 Sheboygan North Invite Dane Hodkiewicz had the best finish for Shawano’s boys wrestling team when they competed at Sheboygan North. Hodkiewicz placed fourth and wrestled well throughout the day, taking out the number 1 and 2 seeds in this tournament. “Dane works hard in practice, and his work ethic is starting to pay off,” coach Mike Homan said. “He is starting to wrestle very well. Today, his leg attacks were working well, and he was using them to build a lead in the matches he wrestled in. He is starting to put it all together at the right time.” Marcus Brezgel placed eighth. Drew Chelberg also took eighth place. “(Chelberg) has been on a roll lately, winning his last tournament and some big dual meet matches,” Homan said. “He continues to improve as we move toward regionals.” Austin Stickney was a consolation bracket champion. He went 4-1 on the backside of the bracket.
